Dyad AI

Of the roughly 20 NHS-D accredited HSCN providers in the UK, Dyad approached two before contacting Cloud Gateway. Both fell short – one could not technically deliver what they had offered, the other was slow to deploy. Dyad AI turned to Cloud Gateway. The platform was fully provisioned in 44 days from engagement to live service. Twelve months later, Dyad renewed and doubled their user base.

After two HSCN providers fell short, Dyad went live
with Cloud Gateway in 44 days - and renewed 12 months later

The thing that really appealed to us was how quickly things got done once we gave the green light to proceed. As soon as we gave Cloud Gateway the nod, they jumped on board and got us connected. Ultimately, the biggest confirmation that things are working well is that we've renewed for another 12 months. We're currently assessing our future development plans - as soon as we know exactly where we're headed, Cloud Gateway will be the first people we turn to.

The challenge

Dyad was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic to help UK health providers organise and understand their unstructured data. Their core platform uses advanced AI, natural language processing and knowledge graphs to maintain context around clinical data – powering products such as BetterLetter, which uses AI to identify and categorise relevant information from clinical letters. BetterLetter is now used by hundreds of NHS primary care clinics to code and workflow millions of pieces of clinical correspondence per year.

For BetterLetter to operate effectively, Dyad users needed access to EMIS and SystmOne – critical applications only accessible via the HSCN. A connectivity provider was needed to bridge the gap.

Of the roughly 20 NHS-D accredited HSCN providers in the UK, Dyad approached two before contacting Cloud Gateway. The first offered the product Dyad needed on their website but could not technically deliver what they had claimed. The second sold Dyad a service but was unresponsive and slow to deploy, costing further time. After these false starts, Dyad’s CTO remembered Cloud Gateway from a previous role.

What we did

We deployed our platform, providing remote SSL VPN access to the HSCN for Dyad’s internal users. The solution was fully provisioned in 44 days from engagement to live service.

As a cloud-native platform, the tenant was instantly scalable – including the provisioning of new remote users on demand. Dyad later doubled their user base without renegotiating contracts or dealing with disjointed renewal dates.

The impact

  • HSCN connectivity live in 44 days from engagement, after two competing providers had failed to deliver
  • User base doubled without commercial friction or contract renegotiation
  • 12-month renewal secured at first contract anniversary
  • BetterLetter and other Dyad products now operate with secure, scalable access to EMIS and SystmOne via HSCN
  • BetterLetter has helped NHS practices clear significant backlogs at pace – at one trust, coders processed 900 letters per day to eliminate a 6,000-letter backlog ahead of a CQC inspection, with processing speed per coder rising from 30 to 48 documents per hour as proficiency grew
Cloud Gateway delivered what they promised - the same can't be said for some of the other suppliers we tried.
