Ortus
iHealth

Ortus iHealth switched from an incumbent connectivity provider that could no longer meet their requirements, deploying Cloud Gateway’s platform to connect their remote monitoring solution to the NHS Health and Social Care Network. The result: outpatient appointment lead times cut in half, a 75% reduction in did-not-attend rates, 58% more patients seen across all clinics, and post-operative discharge lead times reduced by over half – across 8 NHS centres in Greater London.

Our incumbent connectivity supplier was no longer able to meet our requirements. There were considerations around cost, speed of deployment, security and customer service, all of which Cloud Gateway were able to accommodate without delay or disruption.

The challenge

Ortus iHealth’s platform delivers virtual ward and remote monitoring capabilities to NHS centres across Greater London. For it to work, clinicians need secure, reliable access to patient records from any location and any device – which meant secure connectivity to the HSCN was non-negotiable.

Their incumbent connectivity provider had stopped meeting their requirements. The issues spanned cost, speed of deployment, security, and customer service. A replacement was needed that could match the pace of the service they were building – and do it without disruption.

What we did

We deployed our cloud-native solution for secure HSCN access, connecting Ortus iHealth’s solution to the network and giving clinicians the ability to access patient records, capture data, and share information remotely and in real time.

The switch from the incumbent was handled without delay or disruption to service. The platform gave Ortus iHealth a scalable, secure foundation – one that could grow alongside their platform as they expanded into new NHS settings.

The impact

With reliable HSCN connectivity in place, Ortus iHealth's platform has delivered the following outcomes across 8 NHS centres in Greater London:

  • Outpatient appointment lead times cut by over 50%
  • Did-not-attend rates reduced by 75%
  • 58% more patients seen across all clinics
  • Post-operative discharge lead times reduced by over half
  • 75% of users saved more than one hour of travel time per appointment

Ortus iHealth have plans to extend the service beyond London, bringing the same outcomes to more patients across the country.
