What is Business Connect: Cloud?
Business Connect: Cloud is Cloud Gateway’s private connectivity solution between your cloud environments and everything they need to reach: on-premise systems, data centres, sites and users. Instead of routing cloud traffic over the public internet by default, it provides governed, monitored, native private connections, operated by Cloud Gateway.
Most organisations have moved meaningful workloads to cloud, often across more than one provider. The workloads are usually well designed. The connection back to the rest of the business often isn’t, because it was deferred, defaulted to the internet, or left to evolve. That’s fine until a workload scales, an auditor asks how data moves between cloud and on-premise, or a performance issue exposes the fact that nobody owns the path.
Business Connect: Cloud is the connection, designed properly and operated end to end. Native private connectivity where the cloud provider supports it, managed VPN where it’s the right fit, and the visibility and security to run it as a governed path rather than a tunnel you provision and hope.

Cloud Gateway designs the connection, holds the partner relationships with each cloud provider, provisions and integrates it into your estate, and operates it.
The service includes native private connectivity through AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Interconnect, with managed VPN where appropriate; multicloud connectivity across providers on one fabric; live performance, change and SLA visibility through the Cloud Gateway Portal, available via API to your existing tooling; and the option to apply the platform’s security layer at the cloud boundary.
You can take cloud connectivity on its own, or as one capability of a wider platform. The delivery model is the same: design and build by our team, operations from a UK NOC, and one point of accountability.
How to connect your cloud
Connecting a cloud environment means some provider-specific setup, which our team guides you through. The detail differs by cloud, but the shape is the same.
01. AWS
For AWS, we’ll need your account number and VPC details, and a Direct Connect gateway and associations in place.
02. Azure
For Azure, an active subscription and an ExpressRoute circuit configured through the Azure portal.
03. Other providers
For other providers, or where private connectivity isn’t available or appropriate, we’ll use the native private connection method or deliver managed VPN. In every case we design the network pattern, handle integration, and operate it once it’s live.

Common questions about Business Connect: Cloud
What is the difference between your cloud connectivity and internet connectivity?
Cloud connectivity provides private, dedicated paths to cloud providers with predictable performance, stronger security and evidenced controls at the boundary. Internet connectivity uses the public internet, which is fine for light, latency-tolerant workloads but less predictable and harder to evidence for production workloads.
What cloud connectivity methods does Cloud Gateway support?
Native private connectivity through AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Interconnect, plus managed IPSec VPN where private connectivity isn’t available or appropriate. Cloud Gateway holds the partner relationships with each cloud provider and manages the connection end to end.
Can I connect AWS, Azure and Google Cloud to the same network?
Yes. Business Connect: Cloud delivers private connectivity to all three on the same fabric, under one operating model.
Do I need a private connection, or is the internet enough?
The internet is sufficient for many workloads. Private connectivity matters when you need predictable performance, high data volumes, lower egress costs, or evidenced security at the cloud boundary. Most production workloads in regulated industries justify a private connection.
Can I connect a cloud environment to HSCN or PSN?
Yes. Cloud Gateway can deliver compliant connectivity between cloud environments and UK regulated networks, common for healthtech and GovTech providers reaching NHS or government customers from the cloud. This is delivered alongside Business Connect: Cloud under one operating model.
How quickly can a cloud connection be delivered?
Where the underlying circuit or interconnect is in place, a connection can be provisioned quickly. Where new physical connectivity is required, timelines depend on the provider and location. We confirm the realistic timeline as part of the design.
