Public Services Network
(PSN) Connectivity
Compliant connectivity to the Public Services Network (PSN), delivered via a PSN-approved service, with a clear path off PSN when you’re ready to take it. For central government, local authorities, arm’s length bodies, and the technology providers delivering into them.
What is Business Connect: PSN?
Business Connect: PSN is Cloud Gateway’s connectivity solution for the Public Services Network, the network that connects central government departments, local authorities, arm’s length bodies and the suppliers delivering services into them. Access is governed by the PSN Code of Connection and delivered by approved suppliers. Cloud Gateway is one.
PSN is a legacy network. The Cabinet Office, through its Future Networks for Government programme, has spent several years encouraging organisations to move off PSN towards modern, internet-based networking. That migration is incomplete. Some workloads and services still need to sit on PSN for the time being, and many organisations have to operate in both worlds at once: a compliant PSN connection for what still depends on it, alongside the cloud and internet-based estate that’s replacing it.
That is the position Business Connect: PSN is built for. We give you compliant, resilient PSN connectivity today, on a platform that’s already designed to take you off PSN when the time is right, without a disruptive network overhaul later. The connection keeps you compliant now. The platform underneath it is what you migrate onto, not away from.

Benefits of Business Connect: PSN
We handle the Code of Connection process, the policies, the network documentation and the IT health check requirements, so the annual assurance cycle stops being your team’s problem.
From a single connection to dual-homed or fully resilient configurations for services that can’t tolerate downtime, with the design and documentation to support them.
Managed firewall, secure internet access and the wider security layer can be applied to PSN traffic as part of the same service, rather than bought and bolted on separately.
Designed, built and operated by Cloud Gateway from a 24/7 UK NOC, with UK infrastructure and a transparent supply chain.
What's included
Cloud Gateway takes you through the Code of Connection process, designs and provisions the connection, integrates it into your existing estate, and operates it, while keeping the path to a post-PSN network open on the same platform.
The service includes compliant PSN connectivity for sites, users and cloud environments; full management of the Code of Connection compliance process, including policies, network documentation and IT health check requirements; resilient connection options from single to fully redundant; live performance, posture and SLA visibility through the Cloud Gateway Portal, available via API to your existing tooling; and a migration path off PSN onto the wider platform as and when you’re ready.
You can take PSN connectivity on its own, or as the foundation of a wider platform. The delivery model is the same either way: design and build by our team, operations from a UK NOC, and one point of accountability.
How to connect to PSN
Connecting to PSN means passing the Code of Connection (CoCo) process. We make it straightforward and handle the parts you’d otherwise have to manage yourself.
01. Step one
Provide your organisation registration information. The CoCo is, in effect, an application to connect to PSN; central government and local authorities don’t need a registration number.
02. Step two
Second, sign your commitment statement, the set of commitments governing how you’ll operate throughout the compliance process and for the life of the PSN connection.
03. Step three
Supply your network environment details. The PSN’s Information Assurance assessors need to know the sites, users, IP addresses being connected. We can help you with this.
04. Step four
We manage the rest: connection deployment, policies, IT health checks and the ongoing housekeeping, handled through the service rather than by your team.

Common questions about Business Connect: PSN
Is Cloud Gateway a PSN provider?
Yes. Cloud Gateway is a PSN-approved supplier, delivering compliant connectivity to the Public Services Network for central government, local authorities, arm’s length bodies and the technology providers delivering into them, and supporting customers through the Code of Connection process.
What is the PSN Code of Connection?
The PSN Code of Connection (PSN CoCo) is the security and assurance framework organisations must meet to connect to PSN. It covers identity, access management, network security, patching, monitoring and supplier assurance, and is evidenced through an annual submission to the Cabinet Office. Cloud Gateway manages this process on your behalf.
Is PSN closing?
PSN is a legacy network the Cabinet Office is steering organisations away from, through its Future Networks for Government programme, towards modern internet-based networking. There is no single fixed closure date, and migration across government is incomplete. Some workloads still need to remain on PSN for now, which is why most organisations run PSN and cloud-based connectivity alongside each other during the transition.
Do I need to stay on PSN?
It depends on your workloads. Some services still need PSN for compliance or data sovereignty reasons; others can move to internet-based connectivity now. Cloud Gateway supports organisations at any stage, whether you need to maintain PSN connectivity, plan a migration off it, or run both during the transition.
What's the difference between connecting to PSN and to HSCN?
PSN is the government network; HSCN is its equivalent for health and social care. The connectivity models are similar, but the accreditation, governance and assessor requirements differ. Cloud Gateway is both a PSN-approved supplier and an accredited HSCN CN-SP, and can deliver either, or both, under one operating model.
Do police forces use PSN?
Connected today,
ready for what's next
Most providers sell you a PSN connection and leave the migration to you. Cloud Gateway delivers PSN through a platform built to take you beyond it, so you stay compliant now and move off PSN on your own terms when the time is right, without a disruptive overhaul later. One platform, one UK team, one point of accountability throughout the transition.
