Remote Access
Service
Secure network-level access for users connecting into your environment from anywhere. SSL-VPN transport into the networks, sites, cloud and data centre resources your people need, with MFA by default and access scoped to your policy.
What is Business Everywhere: Remote Access?
Business Everywhere: Remote Access connects remote users securely into your estate: cloud platforms, data centres, sites and third-party networks. A software client on the user’s device establishes an encrypted SSL-VPN connection into the network resources you’ve authorised, wherever they’re working, as long as they have an internet connection.
It’s the network-transport route to remote working: the user is connected into the network (or the segments of it you allow), with traffic encrypted and authenticated end to end. That makes it the right fit for traditional VPN-style access, and for transitional cases where applications can’t yet move to identity-aware access.
Where you want access granted per application rather than at network level, with identity and device posture checked on every connection, that’s Secure Private Access (ZTNA). Many organisations run both: Remote Access for network-level and legacy needs, Secure Private Access for zero-trust application access, under one operating model. This page covers Remote Access; for the zero-trust model, see Secure Private Access.
Benefits of Business Everywhere:
Remote Access
Cloud, sites, data centres and third-party networks, all reachable through one remote access service, wherever the user is.
Multi-factor authentication is enabled as standard, with strong, unique credentials enforced, so the user end is protected from the outset rather than as an afterthought.
Grant users access to the specific resources they need, or to broader network areas where that’s appropriate. The scope is configurable to how you want to run it.
Licensed in user bands from small teams to large enterprises, so you provision what you need now and scale as you grow, reallocating licences as usage changes.
User activity, session times and bandwidth usage are logged and visible through the Cloud Gateway Portal, so you can see usage trends and make better licensing decisions.
Run Remote Access for network-level and legacy needs today, and move applications to Secure Private Access (ZTNA) over time, on the same platform, without a separate rollout.
What's included
Cloud Gateway designs the remote access configuration, sets the access policy with you, deploys the client to your users, and operates the service. The connection uses SSL-VPN, with MFA enabled by default and access scope defined to your requirements.
Remote Access is licensed in user bands, so you take the capacity you need and scale up as your remote workforce grows. User activity and usage are visible through the Cloud Gateway Portal, and the platform’s security layer can be applied to remote-user traffic where you need inspection and policy enforcement on top of the transport.

Common questions about Business Everywhere: Remote Access
What is remote access?
Remote access lets users securely reach network resources from outside fixed locations, for home working, remote IT support, or access to shared systems. With Cloud Gateway, the user runs a software client that establishes an encrypted SSL-VPN connection into the network environments your policy allows.
How is the connection secured?
Traffic runs over the internet, so it’s encrypted in transit, and authentication, particularly multi-factor authentication, protects the user end. Cloud Gateway uses SSL-VPN and enables MFA by default.
How many users can it support?
Remote Access is licensed in user bands ranging from small teams to large enterprises, and licences can be reallocated as usage changes, so you can right-size to actual demand.
What's the difference between Remote Access and Secure Private Access (ZTNA)?
Remote Access provides network-level transport: the user connects into the network, or the segments you permit, over an encrypted VPN. Secure Private Access (ZTNA) grants access to specific applications rather than the network, with identity and device posture verified on every connection. Remote Access suits traditional and transitional needs, including legacy applications that can’t yet move to identity-aware access; Secure Private Access is the zero-trust model for private application access. They can run alongside each other.
Is VPN-based remote access still appropriate?
For network-level transport and for applications that require it, yes. Where you want to reduce the network’s exposure and move to per-application, identity-based access, Secure Private Access (ZTNA) is the modern route, and many organisations move to it gradually while keeping Remote Access for the cases that still need it.

Most customers who take Remote Access extend the platform over time: Secure Private Access (ZTNA) for zero-trust application access, Secure Internet Access for inspected internet traffic, and Managed Firewall across the wider estate, all under one operating model.
Connect your people,
wherever they work
Secure remote access shouldn’t mean a slow, all-or-nothing tunnel and a separate tool to run. Cloud Gateway delivers remote user connectivity into your estate with MFA by default and access scoped to your policy, on a platform that takes you towards zero-trust access when you’re ready. One platform, one UK team, one point of accountability.
